Please be advised that Beacon will be unable to take any new bookings during the Christmas/New Year period (i.e. from 22nd December to 5th January). We look forward to hearing from you after the 5th January 2015.
Beacon clients have been invited to Netley Abbey Junior School to watch the school's Christmas performance and have a cup of tea. Beacon volunteer drivers will make sure everyone gets there and home safely and everybody is really looking forward to this festive treat!
Eleven Beacon Goodneighbours clients enjoyed Christmas lunch and each others' company at The Cottage, Butlocks Heath last week. Unfortunately, five people were unable to make it due to ill health but Beacon volunteers delivered meals to them, so they wouldn't miss out. Many thanks to the Beacon volunteer drivers!
Due to a lack of volunteer drivers and coordinators, we are currently only able to offer a reduced service. Please see the Home Page for further information.
Service temporarily suspended: Beacon Goodneighbours has become a victim of its own success. It receives so many requests for help from members of the local community that it is currently not able to fulfil the requests with current volunteer numbers. We are in desperate need of more volunteer drivers and coordinators. If you can help, please contact us as soon as you can so we can get this much needed service up and running again. Updates will be posted here on the website, we hope for good news soon.
Monday 2nd June is proving to be particularly popular for requests for lifts to Blackthorn Health Centre. Could you help by joining the team of Volunteer Drivers?
The service offered by Beacon Goodneighbours is so popular, we are in urgent need of more volunteers. Keep an eye out for our new 'Could you be a Volunteer Driver' leaflets around the Parish and please consider sparing a few hours a week to help people in your community stay independent and active.
Come and meet us at Hound Market, Abbey Hall, 1-4 pm on Saturday 26th April 2014. Beacon Goodneighbour volunteers will be on hand if you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer. Pop along for an informal, no-obligation chat and a cup of tea. See you there!
On two occasions last month, fifteen Beacon clients enjoyed a lovely tea hosted by Year 6 and Year 3 pupils at Netley Abbey Junior School. Beacon volunteers provided lifts to and from the school where staff and pupils produced a fantastic tea and chatted with their visitors. The events were very much appreciated by the Beacon clients and it is hoped similar events will take place in the future.
Beacon Goodneighbours provided 1,137 lifts to the doctors, hospital and other venues for residents in the parish of Hound during 2013/14. 720 lifts were to medical appointments, 284 for social visits. This is clearly a much needed service for local people, so please consider volunteering a few hours a week to help.
